In a small Belgian village, a long-abandoned monastery was transformed into The Community Hub in Borgloon, a space dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships, promoting personal wellness, and preserving the site’s historic heritage. Central to the design is a sensitive balance between honoring the spiritual essence of the chapel and introducing modern interventions that create opportunities for reflection, connection, and solitude.
As lead designer within the group, I was responsible for the concept, design, 3D visualizations, renders,
and technical plans. My personal contribution centered on the chapel, where I conceived and executed a frosted
plexiglass installation. This cocoon-like structure offers a serene environment for prayer, meditation, journaling,
or quiet contemplation, harmonizing with the timeless spirit of the space while bringing in a contemporary touch.
