This Upper East Side townhouse, originally built in 1899 and later combined into one residence in 1914, was reimagined by Ryan Korban with a vision that honors history while embracing contemporary luxury. The transformation balanced Gothic-inspired details, stained glass, and intricate wood paneling with bold modern interventions, creating a home that feels both timeless and fresh. Spaces were redefined with purpose — such as converting the former dining room into a grand entrance hall — while transitional areas were elevated into destinations in their own right. The result is a residence that seamlessly blends architectural heritage with the elegance and functionality of modern living.
I joined the team on a site visit after completion of this project. My involvement was limited,
but it offered me the opportunity to observe the final stages and better understand the office’s
approach to execution and delivery.
